Seven men indicted for killing two female tourists in Morocco

RABAT, Jan 3 (KUNA) -- The Moroccan prosecution officially charged seven suspects, including a Swiss-Spanish man, of killing of two female Scandinavian hikers in an Atlas mountainous area near Marrakech last month.
Announcing the indictment on Thursday, the royal prosecutor asked the examining magistrate to investigate the purported links of the defendants with terrorism and remand the defendants in custody.
The charges include forming a criminal gang to perpetrate terrorist acts and engaging in training new recruits.
On Sunday, the prosecution referred 15 persons, including the seven indicted today, to the examining magistrate under the suspicion of committing acts of terrorism.
Louisa Vesterager Jespersen, 24, from Denmark, and the Norwegian Maren Ueland, 28, were found slain at their tent near Imlil village, Al-Haouz Province, on December 17. (end) mry.gb
