RIYADH, Dec 17 (KUNA) -- Ministers of Information and Communication in the Arab countries held a meeting on the sidelines of the celebration held by the Saudi Ministry of Information on Monday in the occasion of the selection of Riyadh as the Arab Media Capital for 2018-2019.
Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri participated in the meeting.
The Saudi Minister of Information and Head of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers Dr. Awad Al-Awad said that the selection of Riyadh as the capital of Arab media reflects the pivotal and strategic role of the Kingdom in coordinating joint Arab media work.
Al-Awad noted that the celebration of Riyadh as the capital of the Arab media includes several events, including hosting the first Arab media forum, which discusses the mechanisms and means of implementing the Arab media campaign to achieve the goals of sustainable development 2030.
He pointed out that the meeting aims to put forward a number of initiatives and ideas, consultation and coordination with the media and communication sector in the League of Arab States to work on the adoption of the most prominent commitment to the code of honor and the Arab media ethics.
Al-Awad called on the ministers to participate in the media and cultural events that will be hosted by Riyadh in the coming months to celebrate the selection of Riyadh as the capital of Arab media.
The Ministers agreed that the outcome of the meeting would be presented to the Standing Committee for Arab Information and then the Executive Bureau for adoption. (end) mdm.aa
