Schools in Ankara closed due to heavy snowfall

ANKARA, Dec 14 (KUNA) -- Governor of Ankara Wassib Shaheen said on Friday that all public and private schools will be shut down due to bas weather and heavy snowfall on the Turkish capital.
"According to meteorological forecasts, the snow will continue until this afternoon," Shaheen said in a tweet through his official Twitter account.
He explained that the decision to disrupt schools in the capital Ankara came in order to preserve the safety of students.
Several Turkish cities have witnessed a sharp drop in temperatures and heavy snowfalls, leading to the isolation of dozens of villages, especially in eastern Turkey. (end) rs.mb
