Red Sea bordering countries agree on entity including 7 states

RIYADH, Dec 12 (KUNA) -- The meeting of Foreign Ministers of Arab and African nations bordering the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden agreed on Wednesday to form an entity including seven countries that partook in this meeting: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Sudan, Djibouti, Yemen, Somalia and Jordan.
The idea of establishing such an entity comes from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz to achieve stability in the region and strengthen security to promote investment and prosperity for nations surrounding the Red Sea.
Saudi Foreign Affairs Minister Adel Al-Jubeir was accompanied by his counterparts from all the nations participating in the meeting to discuss these points and settle for an agreement that satisfies all.
Al-Jubeir assured during the meeting the significance of forming this entity allowing for cooperation mechanisms which involve all states bordering the Red Sea to serve their common interests better.
"In establishing an entity in the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa we can cooperate on issues of economics, environment, and security, which concerns our nations," added Al-Jubeir.
He also added that this cooperation would help us find harmony in the development of our nations in such a sensitive region, which should prevent any outside forces from adversely intervening.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman had received and extended greetings to the Foreign Ministers of the countries partaking in this meeting earlier today. (end) mdm.aq
