Cabinet commends GCC summit outcomes

KUWAIT, Dec 10 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti cabinet has applauded the outcomes of the 39th GCC summit held in Riyadh on Sunday, and appreciated the relevant efforts of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and other GCC leaders.
This came during the cabinet's customary weekly meeting presided over by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
During the meeting, Deputy Premier and Foreign minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah briefed his colleagues on the findings of the GCC gathering and His Highness the Amir's speech, which stressed the significance of safeguarding the Gulf bloc amid the ongoing serious regional conditions and challenges, the deputy prime minister said following the meeting.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled also kept the cabinet on the final communique of the annual Gulf event, which underlined Gulf unity, along with economic, military and security integrity, Anas Al-Saleh, who doubles as minister of state for cabinet affairs, said in a statement.
The Kuwaiti cabinet voiced much hope that the Gulf leaders' great efforts would contribute to deepening cooperation and integration among the bloc's member states in all domains, ensuring Gulf unity and promoting security and stability, Al-Saleh added.
Later, His Highness the Prime Minister expounded on the outcomes of a recent visit by Libyan Prime Minister Fayez Al-Sarraj to Kuwait, along with the findings of his meetings with Kuwaiti officials on existing bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.
The deputy premier and foreign minister then elaborated the results of a recent visit by Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukry to Kuwait to attend a joint committee meeting, which led to the signing of several deals and executive programs involving security, educational, cultural and sports realms.
Meanwhile, the cabinet gave the thumbs up to a military cooperation agreement between Kuwait and Turkey, a Kuwaiti-Ukrainian deal in military and other fields, and a maritime safety protocol.
Also granted during the weekly cabinet meeting were a cooperative MoU between Kuwait and New Zealand, a Kuwait-UK air service deal, a Kuwaiti-Sino on-line trading MoU and a MoU on youth and sports cooperation between Kuwait and Ukraine.
Finally, the Kuwaiti ministers looked into a set of reports germane to the latest political Arab and global developments. (end) mt
