Yemeni gov't delegation meets with Security Council envoys

PARIS, Dec 9 (KUNA) -- The Yemeni government delegation on Sunday met on the sidelines of UN-sponsored Sweden's talks with the ambassadors of the permanent members of the Security Council, local media in Paris reported.
The ambassadors called on the parties to negotiate to make progress on confidence-building measures, the negotiating framework and the reduction of violence.
The ambassadors stressed the commitment of their countries to achieve peace and aspirations of the Yemeni people and their adherence to Security Council resolution 2216 to end the crisis.
For his part, Yemeni Foreign Minister and head of the government delegation Khaled Al-Yamani appreciated the role of the permanent members of the Security Council to make this round of consultations a success.
Al-Yamani affirmed the government's position in support of the efforts of the UN and its full readiness to engage in achieving a sustainable peace in Yemen based on GCC Initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcome of the national dialogue and relevant Security Council resolutions.
