Armenians cast votes in early parl't elections

ANKARA, Dec 9 (KUNA) -- Armenians started casting their votes for 105 MPs in the early parliamentary elections on Sunday.
According to the Armenian News Agency (ArmenPress), over 2.5 million people have the right to vote in the elections that will conclude at 08:00 pm local time.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had resigned on October 16 to allow the parliament to hold an early election, rather than wait for the scheduled election date in 2022.
Last April, Pashinyan led the protests that resulted in the resignation of former Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan, who was Armenia's president for 10 years, since 2008.
There are 11 political parties competing in the elections, including "My Step" party led by Pashinyan, the Republican Party of Armenia and the Citizen's Decision Socio-Democratic, among others. (end) rs.ag
