Russia accuses US of hampering probes into chemical weapon attack in Syria

MOSCOW, Dec 7 (KUNA) -- The Russian Federation accused the United States on Friday of attempting to hamper the investigations into a chlorine attack by Syrian opposition groups on civilians in Aleppo on November 24.
The accusations levelled by Washington against Moscow and Damascus of fabricating the chemical weapon attack constitute an attempt to abort the investigations of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons into the attack, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The statement followed a press release by the US Department of State earlier today refuting the Syrian regime and Russia's claims in this regard as "false accusation." The Department said it has information "indicating Russian and Syrian personnel were involved in the incident." (end) rs.gb
