KUWAIT, Dec 4 (KUNA) -- Deputy head of Kuwait National Guard (KNG) Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah received France Legion of Honor, during a meeting with visiting French Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Barley who decorated Sheikh Mishal with the medal Tuesday.
Sheikh Mishal was quoted by a KNG statement as commending France's keenness to boosting military and security cooperation with Kuwait.
He said the Legion of Honor "is a recognition of all military institutions in Kuwait, as well as a recognition of the foreign ministry's diplomatic role." Relations between Kuwait and France, he said, were deeply rooted coupled with the two countries' keenness on human rights.
KNG, he noted, adopted the French Language as one of its major languages, and KNG has the best French military vehicles and equipment.
Kuwait national guards and French forces held Pearl of West 2018 maneuvers, he said.
Barley thanked Sheikh Mishal for building friendship relations between France and Kuwait.
KNG, she said, was a major pillar of Kuwait's security and sovereignty.
Barley said KNG contributed to promotion of relations and cooperation between the two countries, specially in countering terrorism. (end) am.bs
