KUWAIT, Dec 1 (KUNA) -- Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) Chairman Sheikh Mubarak Duaij Al-Sabah and Chairman of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) Aslan Aslanov discussed Saturday means to give impetus to bilateral cooperation.
Sheikh Mubarak, also board chairman and director general of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), deliberated with Aslanov, also chairman of the board of Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC), expanding cooperation between KUNA and OANA to live up to the distinguished relations between the Asian nations.
In a statement to KUNA following the meeting, Aslanov expressed pride of the strong friendship bonds between Azerbaijan and Kuwait.
During the meeting, the Azerbaijani guest offered Sheikh Mubarak a memorial gift: a carpet and two books.
Aslanov, who arrived in Kuwait earlier Saturday, to attend FANA's 46th General Assembly on Sunday, underlined the importance of such a kind of meetings in developing media sector in both countries to cope up with the rapid shift from conventional to technology-based media.
In separate meetings, KUNA chief Sheikh Mubarak received delegations of the official news agencies of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Sudan, Oman, Mauritania, Bahrain, Tunisia, Yemen, and Palestine to the FANA's 46th General Assembly.
The meetings with the Arab media officials touched upon efforts needed to bolster cooperation as well as several key media issues of common interest.
FANA, established in 1975, is headquartered in Lebanon and includes 18 Arab news agencies. The federation is under the Arab League and aims to boost media ties and share experience between the members.
Sheikh Mubarak was elected as FANA Chairman during the 43rd conference held in Kuwait in 2015 and was re-elected for another two-year term in Jordan last year. (Pickup previous) mr.ns.ibi
