Kuwaiti painting exhibition shifts from Rome to Florence

By Mahdi Al-Nimer ROME, Dec 1 (KUNA) -- An exhibition for Kuwaiti women artists that kicked off in the Italian capital on November 24, as part of the Kuwaiti Cultural Week, is proceeding in the city of Florence.
The follow-up chapter of the exhibition kicked off today at Del Pegasso Palace, which houses offices of Tuscany's presidency and the premiership, displaying works by the Kuwaiti female painters, Shaimaa Ashkanani, Fothouh Shamwa, Riham Al-Rughaib and Manal Al-Shraiaan.
The artists reflected in their formative art paintings subjects related to the Kuwaiti heritage and identity.
Spouse of the Kuwaiti Ambassador, Dr. Sara Al-Rugayyan, inaugurated the second edition of the roving exhibition, with attendance of the chairman of the region parliament, Eugenio Gianni, Chairperson of the Italian-Kuwaiti Friendship Society Pierreandrea Vanni and Deputy of Florence Mayor Marco Colangelo.
The event was also attended by a host of dignitaries, political, civil personalities, legislators and diplomats.
Mrs. Al-Rugayyan, in a statement, expressed pride of the pioneering Kuwaiti female artists.
For his part, Gianni praised the Kuwaiti artists noting that the Tuscans have special cordial sentiments toward Kuwait.
In remarks to KUNA, he admired the refined works of the painters, praising Kuwait as the best country in the Arab world where the talented are given special care. (end) mn.rk
