Italy: six Egyptians arrested accused of smuggling migrants

ROMA, Nov 26 (KUNA) -- Italian Police said on Monday they arrested six Egyptians in Sicily accused of smuggling migrants.
In a statement, police said that security units of the city of Agrigento south of Sicily arrested six Egyptians suspected of being responsible for smuggling 264 Eritrean migrants that arrived at the port of Pozzallo south of Sicily two days ago.
It was clarified that the Egyptians were members of a fishing boat crew and charged with "smuggling people and facilitating irregular migration." The accused had profited USD 400,000 from migrant in return for reaching Sicily. (end) mn.aq
