KUWAIT, Nov 20 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's national football team lost on Tuesday 1-2 to Syria in an international friendly held at Kazma Sport Club, as both sides begin their preparation campaigns for international tournaments.
The Syrian team was clearly better in the first half as they were much more threatening Kuwait's goal but the first 45 minutes ended without goals.
In the second half, both teams showed much more determination to score especially after Mohammad Midani opened the score sheet for Syria in the 74th minute.
As both teams created dangerous chances to score, Syria was much closer as Khaled Al-Mobayed extended the lead in the 90th minute.
With five minutes of added time, Kuwait was able to find the net with an impressive header by striker Yousef Nasser from a cross by Bader Al-Mutawa.
On the sidelines of the match, a ceremony for the former national team and Al-Salmiya FC player Saleh Al-Buraiki was held for his retirement. (end) fr.aq
