Palestinians speak out after Israel revives unlawful plans to demolish village

RAMALLAH, Nov 19 (KUNA) -- Palestinians will resist attempts to demolish Khan Al-Ahmar, a Palestinian village located between two Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, a Palestinian official declared on Monday.
Walid Assaf, head of the Palestinian anti-Israeli blockade body, made the remarks at a demonstration rally which has entered its sixth month, in the village located east of Jerusalem.
"Demolishing Khan Al-Ahmar is a war crime, and we will resist this crime. It is our right to defend our existence," he said.
His comments follow Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu's recent vow to lawmakers that the village will soon be cleared of its Palestinian residents.
The Palestinian official believes the move would strategically isolate Jerusalem from other Palestinian territories as a prerequisite for the rumoured 'deal of the century', which sees Israel illegally obtaining all Palestinian lands.
The Israelis backed out of revived plans to demolish the village last month.
The United Nations, the International Criminal Court, the European Parliament and Amnesty International have all previously stated that demolishing Khan Al-Ahmar would violate international law, constituting a breach of the Fourth Geneva Convention, and could amount to a war crime. (end) nq.sd
