Palestinians sound alarm about "looming holy war"

RAMALLAH, Nov 18 (KUNA) -- The Palestinian national unity government cautioned on Sunday that the repeated storming by Israeli officials of Al-Aqsa Mosque is part of a scheme purposed to throw the region into a "holy war".
The warning came against the backdrop of the recent storming of the holy mosque by the Israeli minister of agriculture, accompanied by a group of Jewish settlers.
"The so-called Israeli minister of agriculture, who broke into Al-Aqsa Mosque in not different from the groups of extremist alien settlers who storm the mosque on a daily basis at the behest of the occupying government," the Palestinian government's spokesman Yousuf Al-Mahmoud said in a statement.
The Palestinian Awqaf Ministry's media chief ripped the Israeli minister to shreds, saying that he and his entourage had broken into the mosque right under the nose of Israeli policemen.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had allowed Israeli cabinet ministers and Knesset (parliament) members to break into Al-Aqsa Mosque in July, ending a two-year ban. (end) nq.mt
