KUWAIT, Nov 17 (KUNA) -- The Fourth Egyptian Horse Championship, organized under the aegis of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as part of the Kuwaiti Arabian Horse Festival, concluded Saturday.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Representative of His Highness the Crown Prince, Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri commended the successful organization of the championship by Bait Al-Arab, the Kuwait state stud, on Saturday.
He stated that His Highness the Crown Prince's sponsorship of this sport had contributed to its spread and prominence.
For her part, Chairperson of Bait Al-Arab Sheikha Sarah Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, thanked His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince for their support to stud and horse events.
She hailed the participating horses, noting that the Kuwaiti breeders had been showing great interest in breeding and improving Arabian horses, especially the Egyptian breeds.
Kuwait is one of the leading countries in raising the various breeds of Egyptian horses, she noted.
The championship comprised six categories: three for filly and three for foal. The contesting horses were divided into three ago groups.
In the first category, Nour Al-Jawhara, owned by Nasser Al-Saeed, was named the most beautiful one-year-old filly.
Shahin Al-Wafi, of Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sabah, won the most beautiful one-year-old foal.
Zayant Al-Nawasi, of Allam Al-Kandari, won the two-to-three-year-old most beautiful filly contest, whereas, Nashmi Al-Zowider, of Hassan Al-Hindal, grabbed the corresponding foal category.
Bashayer Al-Ward, of Salah Al-Terkait, snatched the title of the fifth category: the most beautiful over-four-year-old mare. Meanwhile, Di Manaf, of Al-Wawan Stable, was named the most beautiful stallion and won the sixth category. (end) fsa.rj.ibi
