Blast kills 2 wounds 8 in S. Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Nov 16 (KUNA) -- At least two teenagers were killed and eight others wounded in an explosion in Pakistan's southern Karachi city on Friday night, said police.
Karachi police chief, Ameer Sheikh confirming the blast said that the blast took place near the Quaidabad flyover in Karachi where some vendors at a makeshift market were selling fruit and other items of daily use. Security forces cordoned off the area soon after the attack and collected evidence for an investigation into the incident and to ascertain the nature of the blast. The dead and injured were shifted to the nearest government hospital. Hospitals Director, Dr Seemi Jamali confirmed that two persons were killed and eight others wounded in the blast. The condition of three injured was reported critical. The blast shattered the windows of nearby buildings and caused a power outage in the surrounding areas. There has been no immediate claim of responsibility from any group. (end) sbk
