NEW YORK, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- Kuwait on Wednesday welcomed the UN Security Council decision on lifting the sanctions on Eritrea.
This came during a speech delivered by Kuwait's Permanent Representative to UN, Ambassador Mansour Al-Otaibi after the adoption of Security Council resolution 2444 unanimously on lifting sanctions on Eritrea.
Kuwait's stance is based on deep belief in the need to seize the opportunity presented by the historic reconciliation process in the Horn of Africa to achieve peace, Al-Otaibi said.
The Horn of Africa region witnessed positive developments during the recent period, where the governments and people of these countries managed to overcome their differences, he added.
The Ambassador praised the African Horn leaders' efforts on achieving a historic peace agreement signed in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
During his speech, Al-Otaibi expressed condolences to the government of Somalia and its people on the terrorist attacks victims last Friday. (end)
