WASHINGTON, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met Wednesday with Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Khalid Al-Attiyah during which they "reaffirmed their commitment to the strong bilateral relationship" between the two countries, as well as "their mutual interest in promoting security and stability in the region."
State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert said in a statement that Pompeo and the Qatari Minister discussed "working toward a Middle East Strategic Alliance, anchored by a united GCC, to advance prosperity, security, and stability in the region."
Pompeo and Al-Attiyah also discussed "the expansion of Al-Udeid Airbase and the upcoming US-Qatar Strategic Dialogue." (end)
