KUWAIT, Nov 11 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Army General Staff on Sunday called on citizens and residents of desert campers to take extra precaution and refrain from touching any strange objects that may appear following the sand drift due to the heavy rains that hit country, which might be dangerous military waste.
In a statement, Kuwaiti Army's Directorate of Moral Guidance and Public Relations called on the citizens and residents to abide the instructions for their safety.
Kuwait was whipped with stormy weather over past days, causing heavy rainfalls and flooding large swaths of the Kuwaiti territories. Huge amounts of sand have been drifted and relocated due to the deluge.
In the past, Kuwaiti authorities had often located and defused mines left behind by Iraqi troops that had occupied the country for eight months. Unfortunately however, some of these mines had blown up causing casualties. (end) am.tb.ss
