Jordanian Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi and his Omani counterpart Yusuf bin Alawi
AMMAN, Oct 31 (KUNA) -- Jordanian Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi and his Omani counterpart Yusuf bin Alawi on Wednesday reviewed the latest developments of the Palestinian cause and outcomes of bin Alawi's visit to Palestine earlier in the day.
Bin Alawi briefed Safadi on Oman's moves in this context, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's talks with Omani officials in Muscat, and his (bin Alawi) meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, a statement by Jordan's Foreign Ministry said.
The two ministers stressed the importance of making more efforts in order to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution, which ensures the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on pre-June 5, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, the statement added.
In this regard, the Jordanian minister warned of the continued absence of prospects for justice for the brotherly Palestinian people, according to the statement.
He affirmed that ending the Israeli occupation and fulfilling the Palestinian people's rights, particularly their right to freedom and statehood in line with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab peace initiative which has a unified stance and a comprehensive introduction for peace, are the only way for resolving the conflict and achieving a comprehensive security and stability in the region, it noted.
The two top diplomats also focused on a number of regional issues, topped with efforts of reaching a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
On the bilateral ties, the two officials reiterated keenness on strengthening and promoting relations between the two countries, the statement concluded. (end)
