UK to sign new trade agreements with African nations

TUNIS, Oct 30 (KUNA) -- UK's Chief negotiator for agreements with the Middle East and North Africa Ian Mckendrick said on Tuesday that his country will sign a number of trade agreements with African nations that would guarantee an easy entry for African goods to UK.
The British official has met with Tunisian Minister of State for Foreign Trade Hesham bin Ahmad, and discussed future bilateral economic relation, after the UK exit from the European Union (EU).
Speaking to the press, Mckendrick said that they have reached an agreement on a transitional phase up to the end of 2020, which would sort a smooth exit from the EU.
He added that the UK will be able to sign many agreements in the transitional phase, in which the current trade rules and regulations will apply on the transitional period, pointing out that Britain aims to strengthen and enhance its relation with its African partners.
The UK's support of the development of Tunisia will remain as the main factor in the future relation between both nations, he added. (end) ksj.mys
