KUWAIT, Oct 22 (KUNA) -- Some 10 Arab-made projects from across government and private sectors have been given top honors this year in His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award.
Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, among other Arab nations, have each won awards for stellar projects, the deputy president of the award's organizing committee Bassam Al-Shemmari told a press conference on Monday.
In the government sector division, the UAE bagged a trio of awards, while two went to Qatar and the Palestinians picked up a single award, the official revealed.
Kuwaiti civil society organizations picked up a pair of awards worth USD 200,000, one of the most lucrative prizes given in the wider Arab region, he went on to say.
He added that the winners will be feted in a lavish ceremony slated for November 26, under the auspices of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The official thanked His Highness the Amir for such gracious sponsorship and the support given since the award's inception. (end) zak.nam
