OIC condemn suicide bombing at voting polls in Afghanistan

JEDDAH, Oct 21 (KUNA) -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned on Sunday a suicide bombing that targeted polling stations yesterday in the Afghan capital Kabul, killing and injuring tens of people who were casting ballots.
A press release by the Secretary-General of the organization Yousef Al-Othaimeen expressed condolence to the Afghan government and people, wishing a fast recovery for the wounded.
Al-Othaimeen stressed the organization's solidarity with Afghanistan, and rejecting these acts of violence and terrorizing the Afghan citizens that disrupted the parliamentary elections.
He called on all political parties and the Afghan people to show restraint and put the nation's interests ahead of their own.
He expressed admiration for the elections which took place as scheduled despite the threats. (end) nsa.aq
