Yemeni Pres. swears in new prime minister

JEDDAH, Oct 18 (KUNA) -- Yemen's newly appointed Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalek took the oath of office before President Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi, replacing Ahmed Obeid bin Daghr, on Thursday.
After the ceremony, held in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia, President Hadi specified the priorities of the new government, foremost among which is to improve the economic and living conditions of the citizens, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
"We are able to tackle the challenges and difficulties brought about by the putschist war," President Hadi said.
"Nobody can evade their responsibility for leaving no stone unturned to find a solution to the current situation," he stressed.
On his part, the new prime minister vowed to do his utmost to restore security and stability of the country under the leadership of the president and in collaboration with the sisterly countries, notably the members of the Saudi-led coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen.
On Monday, October 15, President Hadi sacked bin Daghr and designated Abdulmalek as a replacement amid public protests against the government's inability to halt the deterioration of living conditions. (end) nsa.gb
