NEW DELHI, Oct 17 (KUNA) -- Indian police sources said on Wednesday that three militants including a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander and a police officer were killed in an encounter that took place in Jammu district of North Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Quoting, local police sources, the Press Trust of India said that the Kashmir police and the Central Reserve Police Force launched a search operation after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in Fateh Kadal region in Jammu district.
The forces encircled a house where the militants were hiding and they came under heavy fire as they approached the house triggering heavy exchange of fire which resulted in the killing three hiding militants and one police personnel.
Among the killed militants is Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Mehrauddin Bangroo and police officer Kamal Kishore.
The authorities suspended internet services on mobile and asked to shut all schools and educational institution in the city. (end)
