EU inflation stable at 2.2%

BRUSSELS, Oct 17 (KUNA) -- European Union annual inflation was 2.2% in September, stable compared to August. A year earlier, the rate was 1.8%. These figures were published by Eurostat, the EU'a statistical office, Wednesday.
The Euro area annual inflation rate was 2.1% in September, up from 2.0% in August. A year earlier, the rate was 1.5%. Compared with August, annual inflation fell in nine EU Member States, remained stable in four and rose in fourteen.
In September, the highest contribution to the annual euro area inflation rate came from energy, followed by services, food, and non-energy industrial goods, it noted. (end) nk.tg
