Grand Duke of Luxembourg appoints Bettel to form new gov't

BRUSSELS, Oct 17 (KUNA) -- Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg has asked incumbent Prime Minister Xavier Bettel to try to form the next government after his coalition won a majority of seats in Sunday's election.
The coalition, which includes Bettel's Democratic Party, the Greens and the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party won 31 out of 60 seats in the parliament, Luxembourg media reported Wednesday.
The three coalition parties have agreed to start negotiations on a new government.
Bettel became Luxembourg's prime minister in 2013 after the government led by Jean-Claude Juncker resigned due to a spy scandal. Juncker is now the European Commission president(end).
