Trump to negotiate trade agreements with three partners

WASHINGTON, Oct 16 (KUNA) -- US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer notified the Congress on Tuesday of the Trump administration's plan to negotiate three separate trade agreements with Japan, the EU and UK.
Announcing the move in a statement, Lighthizer said it is "an important milestone in that process." "We are committed to concluding these negotiations with timely and substantive results for American workers, farmers, ranchers, and businesses," he affirmed.
The procedure requires Lighthizer to notify the Congress and maintain ongoing consultations with the legislative branch.
The letters to the Congress indicated that the administration is seeking to support higher-paying jobs within the US and grow its economy by improving opportunities for trade and investment with these countries. (end) ak.gb
