WASHINGTON, Oct 3 (KUNA) -- Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke Wednesday with Iraq's new president Barham Salih, according to a State Department announcement.
Pompeo congratulated Salih on his new position and underlined that the US "looks forward to working with him in this important role," said the statement.
The secretary underscored US support for "a strong, sovereign, and prosperous Iraq as outlined in our bilateral Strategic Framework Agreement with Iraq," it said. (End)
