KUWAIT, Sept 24 (KUNA) -- Al-Tomooh Sport Club will participate in the 15th World Special Olympics Games to be held in Abu Dhabi next March for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Chairwoman of Al-Tomooh Sport Club for Intellectual Disabilities of Kuwait Rehab Burusly said in a statement Monday that the club will participate with a delegation of 87 participants, including players, medical staff, media and youth leaders, adding that Kuwait will participate in nine games, namely basketball, football, bowling, handball, swimming, athletics, badminton, table tennis, and Aerobic.
She stressed the club's keenness on preparing the players to raise high the flag of Kuwait in this tournament especially that Kuwait has a unique history in disabled sports.
She praised His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's care for the handicapped as an important part of the society, as well as kuwaiti sport officials for providing all the requirements for the players.
She underlined the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Organizing Committee for the Special Olympics World Games (Abu Dhabi 2019) and the recently concluded National Association of Arab Olympic Committees in Abu Dhabi, which will reflect positively on the tournament. (end) fsa.haq
