Iraqi PM: won't sacrifice Iraqis' interest for Iran

BAGHDAD, Sept 2 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi said Sunday he would not sacrifice interests of Iraqi people for the sake of Iran which was facing American sanctions.
Abadi, speaking to reporters in Baghdad, said he was entrusted with serving citizens and he would not use his position to "sacrifice interests of people.
"I have no right to sacrifice interests of people for the sake of solidarity with a neighboring country," he said. "When people sayd they are ready to starve in solidarity with Iran, then it can happen." The US reimposed sanctions on Iran following Washington's withdrawal from the nuclear agreement.
Meanwhile, Abadi rejected any regional or international interference in Iraq.
"We condemn any international or regional attempt to interfere in Iraqi affair, they have no right," he said. (end) ahh.bs
