Tunisian PM sacks energy minister, senior officials over accusations

TUNIS, Aug 31 (KUNA) -- Tunisia's Prime Minister Youssef Chahed sacked on Friday the energy minister, Khaled Kaddour, and four other senior officials linked to that ministry over corruption accusations, an official said.
"Chahed ordered the merger of the ministries of energy and industry and launched an investigation into the accusations," said the official in a statement.
There was no official announcement clarifying the reasons of the discharge, but local media talked about corruption charges.
Tunisian Government launched last year an anti-corruption campaign that led to the apprehension of a number of known business men, but no ministers or high-rank governmental employees were arrested. (end) ksj.bb
