Bahrain king hopes Egyptian president's visit will improve ties

MANAMA, Aug 30 (KUNA) -- Bahrain's king Hamad bin Issa said on Thursday that Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi's visit to the Gulf nation is an opportunity to take bilateral ties to new levels.
The Bahraini monarch, joined by Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman, held talks with the Egyptian leader focusing on improving relations between the two countries, state-run Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.
Al-Sisi, who expressed joy over his visit to Manama, said the talks were a collective effort by both nations to reach out to one another.
Meanwhile, Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmad appreciated Cairo's "sacrifices and contributions" to protect regional peace and stability.
He cited a mutual consensus over the need for more cooperation in the fight against terrorism and efforts to protect the sovereignty of Arab nations. The Egyptian president arrived in Bahrain earlier on Thursday to begin an official visit to the Gulf island state. (end) hmd.nam
