KUWAIT, Aug 26 (KUNA) -- Shooter Mansour Al-Rashidi achieved on Sunday Kuwait's first gold medal in the Asian Games held in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.
Al-Rashidi won his gold medal in the men's skeet category and this is the first official participation of Kuwait after lifting the suspension of international sports participation.
Vice president of Kuwait shooting federation Duaij Al-Otaibi said in a phone call with KUNA that he dedicates this big win to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and to all Kuwaiti people.
"What the Kuwaiti shooting team have achieved today is an honorable achievement considering the short notice of participation two days prior to the tournament which gave us a very short time to prepare," Al-Otaibi added.
Al-Otaibi praised shooter Al-Rahidi's performance during all stages of the tournament and he is optimistic in continuing this Kuwaiti achievement in the upcoming events.
Al-Otaibi also thanked all Kuwaiti sports officials for their support towards the sport of shooting which led to this achievement. (end) bb
