Egyptian Police confront terrorists in Sinai -- MENA

CAIRO, Aug 25 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Police succeeded in confronting an assaulting terrorist group and killing four of its member in northern Sinai province on Saturday, the state-run Middle East News Agency (MENA) said.
According to MENA, a security source said the police force succeeded in thwarting an attack carried out by the offensive gunmen with the intention of ambushing the personnel, responded strongly to them despite using heavy weapons and firing RPGs.
Four of the attackers had been "eliminated" and the others fled the scene, the security source said.
The policemen found and confiscated 10 explosive devices, a large cache of weapons, a number of RPGs and communications devices at the scene, the source added. (end) asm.aa
