Top Arab MP urges Togo, Romania, Honduras not to move embassies to Jerusalem

CAIRO, Aug 16 (KUNA) -- Arab Parliament Speaker Mishaal Al-Salami on Thursday called on Togo, Romania and Honduras not to relocate their embassies to the occupied city of Jerusalem.
The call came in letters by Al-Salami to the parliament speakers of the three countries, which plan to move their embassies to Jerusalem.
He urged the speakers to ask their governments to abide by relevant United Nations (UN) resolutions, the Arab Parliament said in a press statement.
He voiced regret that the governments of these countries plan to take such a step, cautioning that any decision or move to change the characteristic or demographic structure of the holy city would be null and void.
The top Arab lawmaker emphasized in his letters that UN Resolution adopted on December 21, 2017 demands all countries to avoid the relocation of diplomatic missions to Jerusalem. (end) mfm.mt
