Saudi Air Defense intercepts ballistic missile by Houthi militia

RIYADH, Aug 11 (KUNA) -- Spokesman of the Arab Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen said Saturday the Royal Air Defense (RSADF) intercepted a ballistic missile fired by the Yemen-based Houthi militia towards Saudi Arabia.
The firing of the missile at 17:05 local time, from the Yemeni Amran governorate, was intercepted after the RSADF spotted it, said Spokesman Col. Staff Turki Al-Maliki in a press release by Saudi News Agency (SPA).
He added, the missile was targeting the port city Jizan and its residential area, but thanks to the RSADF stopping it without out any causalities.
Al-Maliki spoke on these hostile actions by the Iranian-backed terrorist militia and the continuous sophisticated weapons they are provided in order to destabilise the Kingdom and region, which is a flagrant violation of the UN Security Council resolutions 2216 and 2231.
The targeting of residential and populated areas is a direct violation of international and humanitarian laws, Al-Maliki added. (end) mdm.aq
