OIC officials call on Houthi militias to pull out of Hodeida

JEDDAH, Aug 8 (KUNA) -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)'s Permanent Representatives on Wednesday called on Houthi militias to withdraw from Yemen's Hodeida port city.
This came in a final communique of an OIC meeting held in Jeddah upon the request of Saudi Arabia to discuss a recent attack by Houthi militias on two Saudi oil tankers at Bab El-Mandeb Strait.
They strongly condemned the aggression by the Iran-backed Houthi militias on the Saudi ships in the Red Sea after crossing Bab El-Mandeb strait, according to the statement.
The aggression is a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms, and a serious threat to international navigation and the freedom of international trade and maritime navigation at Bab El-Mandeb and the Red Sea, it said.
These heinous attacks, together with other terrorist operations, are carried out by Houthi militias against international maritime traffic and global trade, it added.
The OIC officials also reaffirmed the OIC's full solidarity with, and support for, all measures taken by Saudi Arabia to protect its resources, security and stability.
They also spoke highly of the great efforts of the Saudi-led Arab coalition to support Yemen's legitimacy to alleviate the humanitarian sufferings and woes of the Yemeni people. (end) nh.mt
