Pompeo, Omani FM agree on importance to promote regional stability

WASHINGTON, July 30 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met Monday with Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, who participated in the first-ever Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom.
State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert said in a statement Pompeo and his Omani counterpart "affirmed the importance of continued support for the efforts of UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths" to end the conflict in Yemen.
The statement added that they "emphasized the need for all parties to show restraint to avoid further escalation of hostilities." Pompeo and Abdullah also discussed "the ways in which US and Gulf interests coincide and agreed upon the importance of promoting regional stability and cooperation." (end) si.bs
