KUWAIT, July 28 (KUNA) -- Kuwait continued aiding countries in need this week, including executing pledges and delivering humanitarian aid.
In this framework and in implementation of directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait has donated power generators, fresh water and oil by-products for Iraq in order to honor energy and water needs of the Iraqi people.
Minister of Electricity and Water and Minister of Oil Bakheet Al-Rashidi briefed the cabinet that MEW donated power generators with a total production of 30,000 kilowatts and would be supplying Iraq with oil derivates.
Minister of Commerce and Industry Khaled Al-Roudhan on his part said the ministry dispatched fresh water tankers to honor needs of the Iraqi people.
The two ministers were briefing the government in its weekly meeting, chaired by Acting Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, about acts to alleviate suffering of the Iraqi people.
Kuwait granted Iraq 17 mobile power generators in light of the critical circumstances the Iraqi people are undergoing, chiefly a serious shortage of power, mainly in southern city of Basra.
His Highness the Amir had told Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi by phone that the State of Kuwait was ready to assist its neighbor to overcome the current turmoil, emphasizing that stability in Baghdad is among Kuwait's chief concerns.
Lack of public services and electricity have resulted in mass protests throughout southern Iraqi cities, with protestors demanding better services and more job opportunities. An oil tanker carrying gas oil donated by State of Kuwait to operate power stations arrived at Basra port on Monday, an official in Iraq's Ports Authority confirmed.
Oil tanker Chance arrived at Basra Port tonight coming from Kuwait's Ahmadi Port, carrying 18,000 tons of gas oil, Anmar Al-Safi, director of the authority's public relations, said in a statement to KUNA.
The oil supply is taking place upon instructions of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, which would be used to operate power stations, he added.
On the other hand, Iraq's Abmassador to Kuwait Alaa Al-Hashemi said Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi assured His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah about ongoing developments in some provinces in southern Iraq.
Al-Hashemi praised His Highness the Amir's initiative to help Iraq overcome the protests.
His Highness the Amir "is a man of wise initiatives and positions," he said.
Al-Hashemi said developments in some southern provinces "are domestic affairs which were used by Iraqi politicians for electoral gains." Al-Abadi assured His Highness the Amir, during a phone call, that security remains intact in Iraq amid nationwide protests over poor state services, lack of job opportunities, electricity outages, poor water supply, financial and administrative corruption.
His Highness the Amir told the Iraqi premier that Kuwait stands ready to assist its neighbor to overcome the current turmoil, emphasizing that stability in Baghdad is among Kuwait's chief concerns.
Kuwait's Consul in Basra Ambassador Yousuf Al-Sabbagh said the Kuwaiti assistance was aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Iraqi people.
On his part, Kuwait Red Cresent Society Chairman Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer said that the society carries out a number of peojects inside Iraq stemming from its responsibilities towards needy people around the world and in implmentation of directives of His Highiness the Amir.
Furthermore, a charitable society in Gaza had conducted a free medical day duwing which medicines and baby milk were distributed free of charge as directed by the Arab Fund for Social and Economic Development.

In Yemen, head of the relief sector in the Kuwait relief Society Mahmoud Al-Misbah said that the Kuwaiti aid to Yemen falls within the framework of (Kuwait Besides You) campaign aiming at alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people in the Socotra island.

In Turkey, Al-Najat Charity carried out a training program for those working in the humanitarian field in Gaziantep city south west of Turkey.
In Chad, Kuwait Relief Society, along with the Faculty of Medicine Students at Kuwait University and Al-najat Charity organized a USD 70,000-humanitarian program.
Head of the foreign bureau in the society Mohammad Al-Housli said that a five-day treatment program was launched in the capital with the participation of 15 Kuwait University students.
On his part, head of Medicine College Abdullah Jasem told KUNA that the Kuwait University students dedicated a big portion of their time to assist the needy people in Chad, taking into account the noble directives of His Highness the Amir.
In Tanzania, Kuwait embassy in Tanzania delivered seven tons of primary food aid for thousands of beneficiaries and those affected by floods in presence of Minister of Energy and Minerals Angellah Kairuki and Kuwait's ambassador to Tanzania Jasem Al-Najim.(end).
