Sullivan, Bassil discuss Lebanon gov't formation, Hezbollah's role

WASHINGTON, July 25 (KUNA) -- US Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan met Wednesday with Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil on the sidelines of the International Religious Freedom Ministerial, the State Department announced.
"They discussed Lebanon's ongoing government formation process and the US government's strong concerns over the role of Hezbollah in Lebanon and the region, as well as the threat it poses to regional stability," said a statement from department spokeswoman Heather Nauert.
Sullivan "emphasized the need for all Lebanese parties to abide by Lebanon's international commitments and refrain from violating its policy of disassociation from foreign entanglements," she said. (end) rm.mt
