France, Russia to cooperate on medical aid support for Syrians

PARIS, July 20 (KUNA) -- France, supported by Russia, plans to provide urgently-needed medical aid to civilians in Syria's conflict-ridden Eastern Ghouta, the Elysee Palace said on Saturday.
The humanitarian assistance, which includes basic medical supplies, will focus on patients being treated at Syrian Red Crescent-administered hospitals, read a statement.
The supplies will be enough to treat some 500 critically-injured patients and another 15,000 with non-critical injuries.
Russia's role in the programme will be to ensure the safe arrival of the aid at its intended destination by air. (end) mjz.sd
