Suicide attack kills seven people in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, July 15 (KUNA) -- At least seven people were killed and 15 others wounded in a suicide blast at the gate of Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MoRRD) in Afghan capital city, Kabul, on Sunday, said officials.
MoRRD spokesman Faridoon Azhand in a statement said the explosion happened outside the gate when ministry staff were leaving work for the day.
Police Spokesman, Hashmatullah Stanikzai told media that the blast targeted employees of the MoRRD in the limits of sixth municipality district. He further said that the suicide attacker probably wanted to target a vehicle of foreigners leaving the ministry, but they were not harmed.
This is the second time in just over a month that MoRRD had been targeted. On June 11, at least 17 people were killed, and 40 wounded in a suicide bombing targeting the ministry staff when they were leaving work for the day.
Afghan security forces expect raised violence ahead of Afghanistan's long-delayed legislative elections on October 20 that rebels have vowed to disrupt.
The attack came on the day when United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has released its report documenting all-time high civilian fatalities in the first half of the current year with 1,692 civilians killed from January 1 to July 15, 2018. (end) sbk.bs
