Subdued reaction in Belgium over World Cup bronze

BRUSSELS, July 14 (KUNA) -- The reaction on Belgian streets over the 2-0 victory over England in Saint Petersburg Saturday was low key and subdued.
There was hardly any celebrations on the streets and few motorists were heard honking their cars or fans waving the Belgian flag in Brussels.
In contrast hundreds of Belgians poured out onto the streets waving Belgian flags and motorists honking their cars in previous victories by the national Red Devil team in the world cup.
Observers say that Belgians were hoping very much that their team would go to the finals and probably even win the gold medal.
"Thank you for all these good times! Congratulations for your 3rd place. Well done," tweeted Belgian prime minister Charles Michel.
"The Red Devils can look forward to a special welcome tomorrow in Brussels. While they didn't become World Champions, they conquered the hearts of many a football fan with their attractive play," commented the VRT news network. (end) nk.bs
