BRUSSELS, July 9 (KUNA) -- The European Union regretted Monday that Djibouti and Uganda, both members of International Criminal Court (ICC), did not comply with their obligations under international law and as State Parties to ICC, and did not surrender Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir to the Court.
In a Declaration on behalf of the 28-member EU, Federica Mogherini, High Representative said "based on the information we received, on 5-7 July President Omar Al-Bashir visited Djibouti and Uganda."
She called upon all UN member states to abide by and implement the resolutions adopted by the Security Council under Chapter VII of the UN Charter, notably UNSCR 1593 (2005).
The EU remains a strong supporter of the ICC and is committed to enforcing international criminal law and to ending impunity, she added.
The ICC based at the Hague issued a first arrest warrant against Al-Bashir for alleged crimes against humanity in 2009 and a second arrest warrant in 2010 related with the situation in Darfur. (end)
