Malaysia: No major shift in foreign policy

KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 (KUNA) -- The newly-appointed Malaysian foreign minister Saifuddin Abdullah vowed Tuesday that there will be no major shift in his country's foreign policy.
Abdullah said in a press release that his country will continue persuing its policy of friendly relations with all nations.
He added that one of his country's prorities is to set ASEAN goals and directions as well as promoting ties with the region's countries.
Abdullah, who was sworn in Yesterday, pledged to continue of Malaysia's non-alignement policy in specific international issues and will improve human rights, in addition to achieving the goals of sustainable development.
He also pledged to seek the ratification of six international human rights conventions not signed by Malaysia yet. (end) aab.ha
