PARIS, June 27 (KUNA) -- Kuwait is deeply concerned over a spate of missile attacks launched by Houthi militias against Saudi Arabia, causing dire humanitarian conditions, its ambassador to France said on Wednesday.
Out of its unbridled support for Yemen, Kuwait is doing everything on the political front to ensure that the Yemeni people no longer have to live in misery, Sami Al-Sulaiman told an international humanitarian conference on Yemen in the French capital.
He cited Yemen peace talks Kuwait hosted back in 2016 as a testament to his country's commitment to restore peace and security to the war-torn nation.
On Kuwait's participation in the Paris conference, he said it was yet another contribution towards a humanitarian cause, acknowledging the UN's special envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths' efforts to bring an end to the conflict.
Meanwhile, France and Saudi Arabia also deserve due credit for organizing the Paris-hosted talks, Al-Sulaiman said, which shine light on the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Yemen. France and Saudi Arabia are co-hosting an international conference on Yemen in a bid to assess humanitarian needs for the country and possibly revive U.N.-backed peace talks. (end) mjz.nam
