Iraqi army kills 45 IS militants

BAGHDAD, June 23 (KUNA) -- Iraqi jets have launched air strikes against the positions of the so-called Islamic State (IS) in Syria, killing 45 IS militants, including commanders.
"Iraqi F-16 jets carried out a successful air strike that targeted a meeting of IS leaders in Hajin area within Syrian territory," according to an Iraqi army statement.
The operation resulted in the complete destruction of the IS targets, and the killing of around 45 terrorists, it added.
Those killed in the attack included the IS deputy war minister, IS leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi's personal courier and IS chief of police, according to the statement.
Iraqi jets have been targeting IS-ruled border areas in Syrian territory, in collaboration with Damascus. (end) ahh.mt
