KUWAIT, June 23 (KUNA) -- 1972 -- The Kuwaiti Dinar was pegged to the US Dollar's exchange rate. Floatation of the British pound prompted Kuwait to shift to the greenback.
1987 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issues decree regulating national aviation transport.
1997 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issues decree endorsing the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. Kuwait became the 93rd signatory state.
1998 -- Minister of Health Dr. Adel Al-Subeeh issues regulatory resolutions giving health departments greater authorities.
2000 -- The US Congress endorses a resolution calling for release of more than 600 Kuwaiti and third-party country nationals, detained in Iraq since the aggression on Kuwait in 1990.
2008 -- Runner Mohammad Al-Azmi wins the gold medal in an international track and field championship in Morocco in the 800-meter category.
2011 -- Kuwait's National Assembly votes on a motion to cease cooperation with government of His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah. Twenty-five MPs voted against the motion while 18 others voted in approval and six MPs abstained from voting.
2011 -- MPs Musallam Al-Barrak, Faisal Al-Meslem and Khaled Al-Tahous submit an official motion to grill His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Sabah. (end) gta
